The federal government of Nigeria on Monday the 2nd of December 2019 has promised Nigerians that there would be nothing like fuel scarcity for this year’s Christmas and new year celebration.
Nigeria is amongst the major producers of the product (fuel) in the world, but its citizens suffer from a lack or scarcity of this commodity especially during Yuletide.
This is usually characterized by longer queues in fuel stations, stranded travelers, stranded persons on the highways, increase in transportation fare, people having to stay back at home and most importantly a sought of standstill in the nation’s economic growth for the time being.
But the good news for this year’s Yuletide celebration is that the federal government has guaranteed its citizens of a change in the regular scarcity that’s usually associated with the period.
Meaning that there would be sufficient distribution of fuel for the season.
This conclusion was arrived at after a meeting with operators from the upstream sector in Abuja on Monday.
Mr. Abba Kyari who is the chief of staff to the president presided the meeting with the stakeholders from the oil and gas industry at the Aso Rock Villa.
Scarcity of fuel wasn’t the only thing discussed in the course of the meeting, but also, prevailing security situations, safety on highways for the period and possible plans already put in place where outlined so as to curtail them.
