Bankers arraigned for assault on Actress Chioma Toplis

Vivian Okoro and Femi Omomeji both  36 respectively and employees of Union Bank of Nigeria would face charges placed on them at Igbosere Magistrate Court located in Lagos by January 11 for assault and physical injuries caused to Nollywood actress Chioma Toplis.

Although the case was initially reported earlier in the year to magistrate Davies A.M, the defendants pleaded not guilty on the 2- count charge placed on them.

The case was placed on hold due to the fact that Chioma Toplis had to travel out of the country for immediate medical attention.

On Monday, 30th December 2019 proceeding to the case reopened after Reuben Solomon who is the police prosecutor to the case attested that Mrs. Chioma Toplis is now back to the country following successful treatment in London.

Mr. Reuben Solomon made it known to the court that the incident happened at 11 Abagbon close, off Olorogun Abaje street V.I Lagos where Vivian Okoro and Chioma Toplis once lived as neighbors.

The police prosecutor clearly stated to the court that according to Chioma Toplis on the said day of the incident while she was in her living room watching television that all of a sudden there was a power outage to her apartment alone.

And on getting outside to find out what was happening, she found Vivian and Femi who were love birds on her meter and it seemed they were the once that have removed her switch.

And on confronting them, they dealt mercilessly with her and also dragged her on the ground and in the process she sustained a series of bruises and injuries.

And on the complaints arrival to London, she had to undergo bone surgeries on her left leg.

Femi Omomeji at the time was not staying in the same apartment with Vivian and Chioma but he Visited Chioma who was a colleague at work.

The magistrate court has slated January 11, 2020, for the further court hearing.
